Technical Support Agent
Salary: Starting at £25,000, more for experience
Location: Cleckheaton, England
The Role:
The overall aim of the position is to provide first and second line support to clients all over the world and will include the following key responsibilities:
-Provide accurate software support to customers by telephone or via email
-Be able to recognize and diagnose technical problems, troubleshoot and provide accurate
solutions
-Be able to work with a close group sharing ideas and working together with other team members.
Candidate Profile:
-Technical support experience preferably within a call centre environment would be highly beneficial
-Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask
-Excellent communication skills
-Hands on experience with different OS/Servers
-General knowledge on Networking and TCP/IP
-Experience in mySQL, Apache, PHP, cPanel
-Awareness of IT security
-Candidates must be fluent in English.
Linux System Admin
Salary: Starting at £35,000, more for experience
Location: Cleckheaton, England .
Responsibilities:
-Administration and setup of Linux environments (Red Hat) preferably in a Web Hosting enviroment
-Support of existing UNIX development infrastructure (Linux).
-Administration of servers using Red Hat server.
-Keeping up to date with the latest technology (hardware, software, GNU apps) in this arena, enabling the business to try out the latest technology.
-Installation and maintenance of UNIX and GNU tools/apps.
-Point of contact for all business UNIX queries, faults and requests, to be managed via a call logging system.
-Work with databases (SQL), Red Hat and network internal and external professionals to identify and solve technology infrastructure issues that may span several of these IT disciplines.
-Documenting the existing infrastructure and suggest improvements to this environment.
-Cross training of existing team members.
-Ensure operational excellence by handing over projects into production that are 'fit for purpose'.
-Working with the customers to improve performance and efficiency of their servers.
Requirements
-Strong and relevant technical skills and business experience gained in a web hosting environment (cPanel, MySQL, Linux, PHP)
-Computer Science or Mathematics Degree - preferred but not essential
-Certified in administrating a Linux environment (Red Hat Certified Engineer)
-Strong scripting skills (e.g. Perl, Bash, Python)
-In-depth knowledge of UNIX (Linux) operating systems weighted towards Red Hat Linux.
-Linux desktop experience (NX, Exceed, Gnome, XFCE) and knowledge of desktop environments in general
-Strong communication skills, quick and agile thinking, enthusiastic
-Strong networking skills, Cisco CCNA certificate preferred but not essential
-Monitoring tools, such as Nagios.
